Michael has shared in Urban Water Cycle Solution’s systems thinking journey since 2002.  He continues to collaborate through co-delivery of projects and joint publication of peer reviewed journal papers around systems thinking. He was very pleased to share the 2018 G.N. Alexander Medal with Dr Coombes.

Dr Matthew Roberts

Dr Matthew Roberts studied Mathematics and Geography, before completing a Ph.D. on 3D Fluvial Hydrodynamics Modelling and Post Graduate research investigating Submarine Channel Flow.  Matthew became a consultant in the flood risk and water management industry, developing numerical solutions to predict flooding from all sources and the risks and hazards to people and property.

More recently Matthew has focused on building B2B and B2G relationships, unlocking potential in the UK water sector.  He is a strong advocate of collaborative working, developing partnerships between government, academic and industry practitioners. He is an active member of the Future Water Association supporting innovation in the regulated utilities.

Dr Roberts is collaborating with Dr Coombes and Dr Barry on developing Systems Framework applied research projects and solutions in the United Kingdom.

Mark Babister

Managing Director of WMA Water.

Mark is a national leader in floodplain management and analysis. He is an editor of the 2016 Edition of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR). Mark collaborated with Peter Coombes on the Urban Book of ARR.  Mark has undertaken a number of expert advice roles including the Queensland floods commission of inquiry, Natural Disaster Insurance Review, Ministerial Advisory Council for the Wivenhoe Manual, and the Brisbane River Catchment Flood Study – Independent Panel of Experts.
